A sunny day on Centre Court

10 Jul 2013

All the ladies' singles, all the ladies' singles....oh uh oh uh oh oh oh ohhhhhhhhhhh

Apologies for the Beyonce, my brother started this wimblepun and I can't get it out of my head!

So on Thursday Don and I threw on are finest whites and headed off to centre court! Unfortunately there was no Murray to be seen, but the ladies' semi-finals were the order of the day.

We rocked up early so had time for a perch on Murray Mound and a glass of bubbly.

Donna whipped out her ball and managed to get it signed by Ross Hutchins...not quite Andy, but at least a tennis player!

After the excitement of our 'celeb' ..ahem.. spot we set off to claim our seats in centre. We may have been in the rafters, but still had a surprisingly good view!

That was until Jerzy Janovich sat in front of me...OK so it wasn't technically  him, but it was definitely someone as tall!

Thankfully my giant neighbour got bored of the tennis rather quickly and moved on so I could finally see what was going on!

First Semi-Final...

Kirsten Flipkens (Belgium)

versus

Marion Bartoli (France)

The crowds were keen

But unfortunately it was a bit of a whitewash....

And Bartoli finished off her rival in just over an hour....

Luckily the Second Semi-Final was more of a competition! And we got to watch some amazing tennis!

Sabine Lisicki (Germany) took on Agnieszka Radwanska (Poland)

Thankfully there was just enough time for a Pimm's stop before it began..

                   Lisicke                  v                      Radwanska

Cheering on the underdog clearly worked wonders and Lisicke pulled it together and won the match in three sets.

Still time to squeeze on an oldies match, and Mr McEnroe showed us how it should be done!

A final walk round, but no more play to be had.... so time to say farewell for another year...
